In Ramanagara’s Magadi taluk, miscreants allegedly set fire to a mango orchard belonging to farmer Rajayya in Belagavadi village. Around 150 coconut plants and over 100 mango trees were destroyed, causing an estimated loss of ₹3.5 lakh. Police have registered a case and investigation is underway.
A deeply distressing incident has been reported from Belagavadi village in Magadi taluk of Ramanagara district, where unidentified miscreants allegedly set fire to a mango orchard belonging to an elderly farmer, Rajayya. The incident has left the farmer and his family devastated, as years of hard work were reduced to ashes within hours.
Massive Loss To Coconut And Mango Plantation
The fire has destroyed around 150 coconut plants and more than 100 mango trees in the orchard. In addition to the crops, irrigation equipment including water motors and pipelines was also gutted in the fire. The incident occurred just ahead of the harvest season, leaving the farmer with severe financial losses.
Rajayya and his wife were seen in tears at the site, unable to come to terms with the destruction of their livelihood.
Estimated Loss And Suspected Motive
The total loss is estimated at around ₹3.5 lakh, including damaged crops and agricultural equipment. Locals suspect that the act may have been carried out by individuals with a personal grudge or malicious intent. The once-cultivated farmland now resembles a barren and devastated landscape.
Police Case Registered
A case has been registered at Magadi Police Station, and an investigation has been launched to identify the culprits behind the incident.
Farmer Seeks Government Assistance
The affected farmer, Rajayya, has appealed to the government and district administration for immediate assessment of the damage and compensation to help him recover from the loss.
