New Delhi: Josh Inglis has joined the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) squad for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 and will be available for the franchise’s next match on May 4. Inglis had earlier informed franchises about his limited availability for the tournament due to his own wedding, and was picked by LSG for Rs 8.60 crore.
His wedding happened in Margaret River, Western Australia, on April 18. Inglis scored 278 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 162.57 and an average of 30.88 for the Punjab Kings (PBKS). According to an ESPNcricinfo report, Inglis has already started practising with the LSG squad. The Australian batter will be available for the LSG’s next match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, May 4.
That will be both sides’ ninth match of the ongoing season. LSG are placed at the bottom of the IPL 2026 points table with two victories in 8 matches, and MI are in the ninth spot with the same number of wins.
Matthew Breetzke leaves tournament for personal reasons
Breetzke has left the LSG squad before the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 26 and returned to South Africa. As per the ESPNcricinfo report, he went home because a close family member on his wife’s side passed away recently.
There is no clarity yet on whether the South African batter will return to the IPL 2026, but Inglis could very well be included in the LSG’s playing XII, with the franchise’s overseas batters struggling in the ongoing edition.
Nicholas Pooran has an average of 10.25 in the IPL 2026, while openers Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh averaged 24.12, and 10.25, respectively. LSG will face MI on May 4, defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 7, and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 10. The Rishabh Pant-led side will look to bring their season back on track.
