James Hopes: A shocking news has come out from Australian Cricket’s Big Bash League (BBL). The current bowling coach of Punjab Kings (PBKS), James Hopes, has taken a big and shocking U-turn in just two months regarding the role of head coach. Hopes has suddenly resigned from the post of head coach of Sydney Sixers and joined his old team Brisbane Heat. Sydney Sixers had given him this big responsibility only last month.
Punjab Kings coach’s U-turn
On 4 May, Sydney Sixers appointed James Hopes as their new head coach. But now within just 53 days, he has left Sydney Sixers and has become the head coach of Brisbane Heat. Sydney Sixers officially confirmed this news on Friday. The club said in its statement that head coach James Hopes has informed the franchise about his decision to accept the position of head coach of Brisbane Heat and Queensland Bulls.
Along with this, Sydney Sixers wrote, ‘Although the club is very disappointed with his sudden decision, we fully understand the importance of this big occasion for him and his family. We extend our warmest wishes to him for the future.
Has an old relationship with Brisbane Heat and Queensland
For James Hopes, who played 84 ODIs and 12 T20 matches for Australia, this decision is like a return to his home ground. Hopes has had an unbreakable relationship with Queensland Cricket. During his illustrious first class career of 16 years, he not only scored a lot of runs and took wickets for Queensland, but also made the team win the Sheffield Shield and One-Day titles under his captaincy. Apart from this, he played for Brisbane Heat as a player in the first six seasons of the Big Bash League.
