Most Sixes in IPL Playoffs Match: The most exciting record of sixes in IPL playoff matches is in the name of veteran Virender Sehwag. The batsman who has hit the most sixes in a IPL playoff match is Virender Sehwag, his record has not been broken by anyone in 12 years. But this season, young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi is considered to be the biggest contender to break this record. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has hit more than 50 sixes in the current season and will take the field against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator match. This match will be played on 27th May at Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Stadium in Mullanpur.
Virender Sehwag made a record in the year 2014
In the Qualifier-2 match of 2014 IPL, Virender Sehwag played a stormy innings for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) against Chennai Super Kings. Sehwag hit 12 fours and 8 sixes in his explosive innings of 122 runs in just 58 balls. During this period his strike rate was above 210. In that match, Kings XI Punjab, batting first, scored a huge score of 226 runs, but Chennai Super Kings stopped at 202. No one has been able to break this record of 8 sixes.
Why is Vaibhav Suryavanshi the biggest contender?
This season Vaibhav Suryavanshi has proved to be the biggest breakout star of IPL. So far, he has hit the maximum number of sixes in the tournament and has attracted everyone’s attention with his aggressive batting. In the current season, he has hit 53 sixes while playing 14 matches, which is the highest number of sixes hit by any Indian batsman in a season. At the same time, Chris Gayle has hit the most number of sixes in one season of IPL, he is at the forefront with 59 sixes. But Vaibhav is now very close to this record also.
