The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 mini auction is expected to take place on December 16 in Goa, according to sources.
While team owners and CEOs have yet to receive formal notifications via email, multiple insiders from various teams and broadcasting networks have confirmed the auction date.
Initially, discussions suggested holding the auction on December 14. However, sources indicate that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has communicated via WhatsApp to representatives of all ten teams, stating that the auction will indeed occur on December 16. They also plan to provide auction-related details the day before, on December 15. The BCCI aims to assess how many representatives from each team will attend to facilitate early bookings at the ITC Grand Hotel.
Interestingly, December 16 will also see India face Sri Lanka in the second One Day International (ODI) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The first match of the series was originally scheduled for December 13 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, but it will need to be relocated due to ongoing drainage and pitch improvement work at the historic venue. This marks the first time Goa will host an IPL auction.
During this mini auction, all ten franchises, including Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad, will have the opportunity to address gaps in their rosters. This process will occur after the retention and release window closes in mid-November.
By mid-November, all franchises must submit their final lists of retained and released players to the BCCI, which will then compile a list of players available for auction.
