The Indian men’s team faced disappointment in the 10-meter air pistol event at the in Nagoya on September 24. Comprising Kamaljeet, Kedarling Balakrishna, and Akash Bhardwaj, the team scored a total of 1727 points, including 53 inner-10s.
They narrowly lost to Japan, which scored 1730 points with the same number of inner-10s.
In the individual finals for the men’s 10-meter air pistol, no Indian shooter qualified. Kamaljeet finished ninth with a score of 580, while Akash placed 11th with 579. Kedarling Ucchagane ended in 35th place with a score of 568. In a brighter note, the Indian mixed pair of Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaz Dhaliwal qualified for the finals, finishing fourth with a score of 138. Qatar led the qualification, followed by Korea in second and China in third.
Both Anantjeet and Parinaz were part of India’s medal-winning skeet teams earlier in the tournament. Anantjeet helped secure a bronze for the men’s team, while Parinaz was part of the women’s trio that also won bronze. Unfortunately, the Indian trio of Isha Singh, Manu Bhaker, and Suruchi Inder Singh faced a disappointing end in the team final, failing to secure a medal. Manu Bhaker also finished fifth in her individual event without a medal.
India’s first medal in shooting at the 2026 came in the women’s 10-meter air rifle team event, where Ilavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar, and Vidarsha Vinod claimed silver. Ilavenil also earned a silver in the individual event, while Himanshu Dhillon, Parth Mane, and Rudraksh Patil secured silver in the men’s 10-meter air rifle team event, with Himanshu and Rudraksh and bronze, respectively, in their individual events.
