India’s T20I team was hosted by India’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe Brahma Kumar at India House in Harare on Friday evening. The event took place ahead of the second match of the three-match T20I series against the host team.
The welcome ceremony was held a day before the second T20I on Saturday. The third and final match of the series will be played at Harare Sports Club on Sunday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared pictures from the event on Twitter, in which the Shreyas Iyer-led team and stand-in head coach VVS Laxman were seen interacting with the Indian ambassador and his family.

During the event, Ambassador Brahma Kumar welcomed the Indian players and support staff. After this he honored captain Shreyas Iyer and head coach VVS Laxman by presenting them with traditional shawls. Later the team posed for a group photo with the ambassador and his family, while Laxman also addressed the gathering at the event.
India leads 1-0 in the series
India will enter the second T20I with a 1-0 lead in the three-match bilateral series after registering a comfortable win by seven wickets in the first match. The visiting team displayed disciplined bowling after opting to bowl first, restricting Zimbabwe to 125/7.
Fast bowlers Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav took two wickets each, while Ravi Bishnoi and Shivam Dubey took one wicket each. Zimbabwe opener Tadivanashe Marumani put up a lone fight, scoring 39 not out, but the hosts were unable to post a challenging score.
In reply, India achieved the target of 126 runs in just 13.2 overs. Young opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a brilliant inning of 50 runs, scoring his first international half-century, while Ishan Kishan contributed 35 runs. Captain Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 28 runs and led the visiting team to victory with many overs to spare.
A win in Saturday’s second T20I will give India an unassailable 2-0 lead and will seal the three-match series before Sunday’s final match in Harare.
