Speaking on the occasion, Shah described the ‘Museum of Words’ as a major step towards reviving the country’s cultural heritage. He presented the project as a major achievement under the ongoing efforts of the Central Government to protect and promote the cultural identity of the country. He said, “This is a momentous day for the culture of the country, as PM Modi has marked an important milestone in the resolve to revive the country’s cultural heritage. The culture of any nation or region, and its expression, cannot exist without language, and language itself cannot exist without words born of emotions. Unless our future generations understand this journey, the cultural revival of this country cannot truly happen. I am confident that this The ‘Museum of the Word’ will meet a fundamental need in this process of cultural revival and will succeed in its mission.”
‘Make sure not to lose the language’
Shah further stressed the vital need to preserve local languages, saying that the indigenous identity of a nation should actively shape the public character rather than existing only as an emotional attachment. He also urged people not to lose traditional language, and said that although language is scientific, it is based on necessity and natural evolution. He said, “Every person has an attachment to his mother tongue and rightly so. Here, one realizes that this attachment should not remain just a feeling but should become an integral part of our character; we also understand that, as Indians, we have perhaps forgotten our traditional costumes. We must ensure that we do not lose our language too. People who look at language from a scientific point of view must understand that language is a science that evolved naturally. Although language is indeed scientific, it evolved out of necessity and natural evolution.”
Urge to connect languages with AI
Further, the Union Home Minister urged the Culture Secretary to integrate the linguistic heritage of the country with modern computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ensure that traditional languages can flourish in the digital age. He said, “We never imposed restrictions on ideas. We communicated with the scriptures, held philosophical debates, and constantly embraced innovation along with tradition. Have just visited the entire museum. I find that it beautifully presents the journey of the word. I urge the Culture Secretary to extend this story to the field of computers and AI, to ensure that our languages get full acceptance in the modern age. We have never shied away from innovation; we have never shied away from it Move.
