A case that puts humanity to shame has come to light in Kohat Enclave area of Delhi. A tribal girl from Jharkhand was kept as a bonded laborer in a house for 17 years. During this period, the victim was not only physically abused and raped thrice, but she also had to undergo a forced abortion.
On the complaint of 32 year old tribal victim, Subhash Place police station has registered a case of rape and other sections and started investigation. When the victim was 15 years old, Zeta Munda of her neighboring village had brought her to Delhi on the pretext of getting her work. He left the girl to do household work at a businessman’s house in Kohat Enclave.

To cut off contact with his family, the businessman’s family tore the paper with the victim’s mobile number and burnt it. During this long period the victim’s father died, but she was not allowed to go home. If he protested, he was beaten. According to the victim, the confectioner who had come to attend the wedding of the businessman’s daughter raped her. When she became pregnant, the daughter and daughter-in-law got an abortion. Later, the neighboring servant also raped her, despite seeing it on CCTV, the case was hushed up.
The victim got freedom with the help of NGO
In November last year, the victim’s brothers and sisters reached that house with the help of an NGO, but the businessman sent them away after paying only Rs 15,000. Not accepting defeat, the family members reached there again on April 9 and remained adamant. Under pressure, the businessman freed the victim and handed over Rs 1.70 lakh as wages for 17 years. After this the victim contacted the police and narrated her ordeal.
