Moharram 2026 Lucknow: During the royal procession of Moharram, on which major roads of Lucknow, traffic diversion has been implemented and which roads will remain closed? What is the complete route of the royal brocade procession coming out of Bada Imambara and at what time will the procession start and pass through which areas?

Lucknow Traffic Advisory: With the beginning of Moharram, the administration has become completely alert regarding the security and traffic system in the capital Lucknow. In view of the traditional ‘Shahi Zari’ procession that took place on Wednesday evening, the police have imposed special traffic diversion on several major roads of Old Lucknow. In such a situation, city residents should definitely check the new traffic plan before leaving home.

Royal brocade procession will take place from Bada Imambara

According to the police administration, the royal brocade procession will start from Bada Imambara at around 7 pm. This procession will reach Chhota Imambara via Rumi Gate, Ghantaghar, Sheeshmahal, Satkhanda and Raees Manzil. In view of the presence of a large number of devotees on the procession route, elaborate security arrangements have been made.

There will be traffic diversion in these areas

Traffic police have banned the movement of normal vehicles around Pucca Bridge, Bada Imambara, Rumi Gate, Ghantaghar and Chhota Imambara. Vehicles coming from Sitapur Road will not be able to go towards Bade Imambara beyond Daliganj Railway Crossing. Traffic coming from Hardoi Road will be restricted from Koneshwar intersection in the direction of Ghantaghar.

Apart from this, diversion will also be implemented in Kaiserbagh, Chowk, Hussainabad, Shahmina, Medical College Crossing and Lemon Park areas as per requirement. Police have appealed to people to use alternative routes.

However, keeping in mind the convenience of the common citizens, ambulances, fire brigades, dead bodies and school vehicles will be allowed to pass through the restricted routes as per requirement.
