Hyundai Bayon Bookings Open Ahead of October Launch: Check Expected Price and Specs

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has commenced bookings for its highly anticipated Bayon SUV, signaling a strategic move to disrupt the burgeoning midsize SUV segment. With bookings open since September 23, 2026, for an initial amount of INR 11,000, the Bayon is slated for a global reveal on October 12, 2026, at the Paris Motor Show, with its full market launch in India expected during the festive season in October 2026.

Positioned as a versatile 4.2-metre SUV, the Hyundai Bayon aims to carve a niche between the sub-4-meter Venue and the larger Creta in Hyundai’s diverse Indian portfolio. This strategic placement is designed to cater to customers seeking a blend of urban maneuverability and midsize SUV aspirations, all at an accessible price point.

Design and Dimensions

The India-spec Hyundai Bayon promises a distinctive and futuristic design language, diverging from its global counterpart to better suit Indian preferences. Teasers and design sketches highlight a sculpted bonnet, futuristic front fascia with signature H-Edge LED DRLs, geometric wheel arches, wrap-around door cladding, and bridge-type roof rails, collectively contributing to a strong road presence.

Measuring approximately 4.2 metres in length (around 4180mm), the Bayon is meticulously engineered for optimal interior space, ensuring superior legroom, headroom, and shoulder room for all occupants.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood, the Hyundai Bayon will be powered by a proven and reliable 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a powerplant shared with the successful Creta. This engine is expected to deliver a robust output of around 114 bhp and 144 Nm of peak torque, promising a refined and fuel-efficient driving experience.

Transmission options will include a smooth 6-speed manual gearbox and Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), also known as a CVT automatic. Furthermore, Hyundai is expected to offer a factory-fitted CNG variant, coupled with a manual transmission, catering to the growing demand for alternative fuel options and lower running costs.

Feature-Packed Interior and Safety

The Bayon is set to redefine the segment with its technologically advanced and comfort-centric cabin. Key features include an in-built generative AI voice assistant for intuitive interactions, twin connected screens with a large infotainment display (up to 12.3 inches), and a central dropdown panel for HVAC controls.

Comfort and convenience features are expected to encompass ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, wireless charging, and a panoramic sunroof. For safety, the Bayon is built on the Global K Enhanced Platform, engineered to meet 5-star Indian safety standards, and will come equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and six airbags, along with a 360-degree view camera.

Expected Pricing and Market Impact

Hyundai is targeting an aggressive pricing strategy for the Bayon, with ex-showroom prices expected to range between ₹9.5 lakh and ₹15 lakh. This competitive pricing aims to significantly undercut many traditional midsize SUV rivals, positioning the Bayon as the most affordable entry into the segment. The move is anticipated to fill the existing price gap between sub-compacts and midsize SUVs, providing a compelling option for a wide range of Indian buyers.
