Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed to present the original deed of Himalayan Brahmo Samaj Shimla Trust. This order has been given in connection with the investigation of two FIRs. According to the police, till now the investigating agency has only a certified copy of the deed and the original copy is necessary for verification.
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [भारत]July 17 (ANI): The Himachal Pradesh High Court, hearing multiple connected cases, on Thursday directed the production of the original trust deed of the Himalayan Brahmo Samaj Shimla (Trust) in connection with the ongoing investigation into two FIRs. A division bench of Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia and Justice Bipin C Negi passed the direction while hearing Sheetal Vyas vs. State of Himachal Pradesh and Others along with related criminal writ petitions.
Status report presented in court
The Division Bench took on record the status report filed by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station West, Shimla, stating that the FIR of 2024 and the investigation of the FIR of 2024 is still going on. As per the status report, the investigating agency had earlier obtained only a certified copy of the trust deed from Lalit Verma, while the original document has not yet been produced for verification.
Notice was sent to present the deed
The police informed the court that Verma was served a notice under section 94 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS), directing him to produce the original trust deed and other related records. After the notice was not complied with, another notice was issued through the competent magistrate.
During the hearing, advocate Amit Singh Chandel, appearing for the petitioners in the related criminal writ petition, said that the original trust deed will be produced before the court on the next date of hearing. Taking this statement on record and observing that the matter has been pending for a long time, the Division Bench directed that the original trust deed be produced in the next hearing. The matter has been listed for next hearing on July 28, 2026. (ANI)
