Gurugram Police has detained 13 suspected Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in the city. The process of sending these people back has been started. All of them were working as laborers on rent in different areas.

Gurugram (Haryana) [भारत]July 17 (ANI): Gurugram Police have detained 13 alleged Bangladeshi nationals on suspicion of staying illegally in the city. An official said on Thursday that the process of sending him out of the country has been started.

13 Bangladeshis in custody, preparations to send them to the country

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Naveen Sharma said that the Crime Branch had received information about a month ago that some Bangladeshi citizens were living illegally in India and working as laborers at different places in Gurugram.

“Acting on this intelligence, the team detained 13 Bangladeshi nationals who were staying in the country illegally. On checking their documents, it was confirmed that they had entered India illegally. Subsequently, proceedings were initiated to deport them from the country,” Sharma said.

He said the 13 detained people were being taken to Malda Town in West Bengal under the protection of an inspector and a team of 23 policemen, where they would be handed over to security agencies for further deportation proceedings.

Police appealed to the people

According to Sharma, the detained people were working as tenants in different parts of Gurugram. The ACP also appealed to the public to assist law enforcement by reporting suspicious persons.

He said, “We appeal to all citizens to contribute to national security. If you find anyone suspicious like tenants, labourers, domestic workers, hotel staff or construction workers, please report it by calling 112 or contacting your nearest police station.”

11 Bangladeshis were also caught in Mangaluru

Meanwhile, on Monday, Mangaluru City Police also detained 11 Bangladeshi nationals working at two different construction sites under Urwa police station limits.

Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy confirmed the development and said those detained included three from one site and eight from the other.

“A report will be sent to the FRRO for orders for his detention and deportation. The process of collecting documents is underway,” the police commissioner said.

The police commissioner further said, “A case will be registered against the middleman from West Bengal who brought them to work here along with some Indian laborers from other states of India.” (ANI)
