In the pavilion where the rituals of the sacred union of seven births were about to be completed, suddenly death played such a cruel game that everyone was left stunned. Amidst the sound of shehnai and auspicious songs, suddenly a tragedy occurred which left two families with lifelong wounds that they will never forget.

This tragic tale begins from Bettiah district, where the marriage procession of 25-year-old Shakti Nath Sharma reached Chikni village in East Champaran district with full pomp. There was a festive atmosphere at the house of Raghuni Kumari, daughter of Santosh Sharma, resident of Chikni village. Relatives dancing to the tunes of the band, the wedding venue shining with lights and hundreds of guests gathering to bless the bride and groom, everything was going according to plan. The traditional ‘Dwar-Puja’ ritual was conducted in a very cordial atmosphere. After this the bride and groom came on the stage, where both garlanded each other. This very beautiful moment was being captured in the cameras, and no one had the slightest idea of the dreadful turn that was to come.
That mysterious silence just before the rounds: When everyone’s breathing stopped
After the varmala ceremony, the bride and groom were brought to the main wedding hall. Pandit ji had lit the sacred fire and the ceremony of pheras was about to begin amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras. Then suddenly something happened which shocked the people present in the pavilion. According to Shakti Nath’s brother Karmi Sharma, just before the ritual began, Shakti Nath suddenly complained of unbearable and severe pain in his stomach. Initially the people standing nearby thought it was normal gas or stomach ache and did not make any noise immediately so as not to spoil the color of the wedding. But within a few minutes the suspense deepened when the groom started suffering from pain and within no time he fell unconscious in the pavilion.

Seeing the groom’s condition deteriorating rapidly, there was chaos in the wedding house. In joy, the family members and relatives ran towards a nearby private hospital with him. After primary examination there, the doctors realized the seriousness of the situation and without wasting time referred him to the big SRPS hospital in Raxaul. Everyone’s breath was held amidst the siren of the ambulance, and everyone was praying for the safety of Shakti Nath. But destiny had something else in store. By the time the vehicle reached Raxaul hospital and the doctors started examining him, it was too late. Doctors declared 25-year-old Shakti Nath Sharma dead after investigation.
Echoing screams instead of Shehnai: A mountain of sorrow fell on the orphan family
As soon as the news of Shakti Nath’s death reached the wedding house, the whole scene changed in a moment. The house which was resonating with music and laughter till some time ago, now only sounds of screams and crying were coming. The bride, whose farewell preparations were underway, became unconscious after hearing this news. The groom’s brother Karma Sharma tearfully told that Shakti Nath was the youngest among the three brothers. The shadow of his parents had already vanished from his mind. This marriage was supposed to bring a new dawn of happiness for this orphan family, but this cruel decision of the creator has pushed both the families into such a deep shock and never-ending sorrow, from which it seems impossible for them to recover.
