Raayan, directed by and starring Dhanush, won the National Award for Best Tamil Film. The decision sparked discussions on social media, with many opining that either Amaran or Maharaja should have won the award over Raayan.
Jana Nayagan director H. Vinoth was asked to respond to the ongoing controversy. “If it’s a mistake, they have to rectify it next time. Awards have been given based on the decision of a small committee. Also, we have to position our movies properly for the National Awards,” said H. Vinoth.
He added, “We have to follow up properly with the committee members to ensure they have watched our film. Just having a good film alone won’t make it eligible for the National Award.”
