If you are a central employee then this news may be of use to you. In fact, central employees are once again expected to receive arrears of Dearness Allowance (DA) in the second half of the year. Let us understand this in detail.
How much is DA?
At present the DA of central employees is 60 percent. Last April, the Central Government Cabinet had approved a 2% DA increase for the first half of the year 2026. This increase has been made from January 1, 2026 to June 30, 2026. This means that central employees will get 60% DA from the month of January itself. In such a situation, DA arrears of January, February and March will be included in the salary received by the central employees. Let us tell you that DA increase is done on the basis of the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission.
You will get DA arrears again
It is expected that DA arrears for the second half of the year will be received by September-October 2026. It is being told that the payment of the outstanding DA increase in July 2026 will be completed by September or October.
Let us tell you that the government takes a decision on DA every year around Navratri i.e. in September or October. The increase in DA is effective from July 1. In such a situation, DA arrears of central employees are available till July, August and September. Let us tell you that this time a 3% increase in DA is expected. If this happens then DA will increase to 63 percent.
Waiting for the recommendations of the Eighth Pay Commission
Central employees are waiting for the recommendations of the Eighth Pay Commission more than they are waiting for the DA. It is estimated that the Pay Commission may submit its recommendations to the government in the first half of the year 2027. The Pay Commission has been given 18 months time by the government. During this period, the Pay Commission will recommend the salary, allowances of central employees and other facilities and facilities for pensioners.
Upcoming meeting of pay commission
According to official information, the Pay Commission will visit Hyderabad on 18th and 19th May. At the same time, the Commission has confirmed its visit to Srinagar from June 1 to June 4, 2026. Additionally, the Commission will visit Leh in the Union Territory of Ladakh on June 8, 2026. Officials have urged stakeholders to strictly adhere to the timelines and procedural requirements for submission of memoranda, to ensure their participation in the consultation process.
