An employee asked for work from home (WFH) due to heavy rain, but the boss’s reply surprised everyone. The employee was fired directly from his job. Learn about the case in detail.
No one can deny that heavy rains cause many problems in everyday life. In such a situation, many employees demand work from home. Some bosses understand the situation and allow it so that the employees can feel comfortable and give their best. But, what happened to a user on X (formerly Twitter) is completely different. A user named Pratik Shetty has shared a post on X, in which he had asked for WFH from his boss, but the answer he got was surprising.
According to the viral post, the employee sent a message on WhatsApp to his manager saying that it was unsafe to come to the office due to heavy rains and he would like to work from home. The message read, “Hello sir, it is raining heavily and the road is completely submerged in water, it is very risky to go out. Can I do WFH today? I promise 100% productivity.”
Employee fired for asking for WFH
After this there was no response from the manager, but an email allegedly came from the “CEO’s office”. The message read, “The flood at your place, your WFH request, and your termination, all three things have been noted in that order. You should have learned swimming before applying to this company. Stay at home. You are fired.” A screenshot of this incident was shared on social media. The caption of the post read, “This guy was fired from his job in the office after sending a WhatsApp message… The reply came via email… Never expected an ending like this??”

As soon as this post went viral, people started reacting to it rapidly. Not only this, Prateek also joined in the fun and made many funny comments. In a comment he wrote, “After learning to swim… I think now I should start preparing for the Olympics to earn a second income.” He further wrote, “Looks like now we have to update on LinkedIn: ‘Open to Swim’ (available for swimming).” In another post, he joked, “Sharing 10 leadership lessons I learned after getting fired from my job for not knowing how to swim.”
While many social media users found it amusing, some also questioned its authenticity. People are asking whether this post and email is real or just made for entertainment.
