A letter preparing for ‘Operation Sindoor 2.0’ against Pakistan is viral on social media. PIB Fact Check has declared this letter as fake. The Defense Ministry has clarified that no such instructions have been issued.
New Delhi: A news is spreading rapidly on social media that India is preparing for another military operation against Pakistan. Along with this, a letter is also going viral, which is said to be from Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. In this letter, instructions have been given to prepare for ‘Operation Sindoor 2.0’. But the government’s fact-checking agency, Press Information Bureau (PIB) has made it clear that this letter is completely fake.
PIB Fact Check reported that neither the Defense Secretary nor the Defense Ministry has issued any such letter. People have been appealed not to believe such fake news without any official confirmation. In the fake letter going viral, it was claimed that on the special instructions of the Prime Minister, the Defense Secretary has asked the Chief of Defense Staff to prepare for ‘Operation Sindoor 2.0’ against Pakistan. PIB has clearly said that such false news should not be spread on social media.
What was ‘Operation Sindoor’?
Let us tell you what ‘Operation Sindoor’ was. Last year in May, 26 civilians were killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam. In response to this, India launched ‘Operation Vermillion’. In this operation, the Indian Army accurately attacked 9 targets of terrorist organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. More than 100 terrorists were killed in this retaliation, including Masood Azhar’s family members. When Pakistan tried to retaliate, India also launched heavy attacks on major airbases of Pakistan like Noor Khan, Sargodha and Jacobabad.
