The people of the state, who have been facing scorching heat and heatwave for many days, will no longer have to wait long for the weather to change. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of strong storm, thunder and rain in many districts of the state. It is estimated that this rainy season starting from today may continue till July 1.
Meteorologists say that monsoon has reached near Uttar Pradesh and its formal arrival may be seen in the state soon. In such a situation, the hope of getting relief from drop in temperature and humidity has increased.
Chances of rain from Western UP to Purvanchal
According to the Meteorological Department, in many districts of Western Uttar Pradesh including Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), Bulandshahr, Baghpat, Hapur, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Moradabad, Rampur, Bijnor, Amroha, Sambhal, Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Aligarh, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Bareilly, Badaun, Pilibhit and Shahjahanpur. There is a possibility of rain.
Rain alert has also been issued in many districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh including Gorakhpur, Deoria, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Basti, Siddharthnagar, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, Amethi, Barabanki and Fatehpur.
What is Blue Alert?
The Meteorological Department has issued a blue alert for eastern Uttar Pradesh between June 30 and July 1. Blue alert means there is a possibility of thunderstorms, strong winds and light to moderate rain in the area. Although this condition is not generally considered dangerous, people are advised to keep an eye on weather updates.
Will provide relief from heat
The temperature in most of the districts of Uttar Pradesh has remained above normal for the last several days. There is silence on the streets in the afternoon and people forced to remain confined to their homes are now eagerly waiting for the rain. The Meteorological Department estimates that with the onset of rains the temperature will drop and there will be relief from heatwave-like conditions.
