Delhi News: There was an encounter between police and miscreants in Lajpat Nagar area of Delhi. The police retaliated by shooting two wanted criminals in the legs and creating a half-encounter.
New Delhi: An encounter took place late Monday night near Jal Vihar in Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar area. In this encounter with the joint team of South East Delhi Police, Special Task Force (STF) and Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS), two miscreants were injured by bullets.

Who are the two voted criminals of Delhi?
- According to the police, the accused have been identified as Pramod Kumar alias Tutan and Rajesh. During the firing, both of them were shot in their right legs, after which they were admitted to Safdarjung Hospital for treatment.
- Police said that Pramod Kumar alias Tutan is a vicious criminal, against whom 113 criminal cases are registered. These include cases of robbery, attempt to murder and under the Arms Act.
Police laid trap in film style
- Police said that they had received information that two wanted criminals were coming towards Jal Vihar on a stolen motorcycle to commit some crime.
- Based on this information the police laid a trap. Both the suspects reached the spot at around 12:15 am on the intervening night of 29th and 30th June.
- When the police signaled them to stop, the accused left their motorcycle there and started firing at the police team.
- The police also retaliated in self-defence, in which both the accused were shot in the right leg. After this the police controlled him and took him into custody.
- Police have recovered an illegal pistol, magazine, one live cartridge and a country-made pistol from the accused. According to the police, during the encounter the miscreants fired three rounds, while the police team retaliated by firing four rounds. At present further investigation of the case is going on.
