PM shared the post
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday shared an article on social media ahead of his proposed visit to the Somnath temple on May 11, in which he highlighted the civilizational importance of the temple and paid tribute to those who have protected and restored it over the centuries. The PM said in the post, ‘I have written an editorial article about my upcoming visit to Somnath on May 11 and explained why this day will always be important in the context of Somnath and the greatness of our civilization. I also paid tribute to all those people who, facing all kinds of challenges, protected Somnath and restored its dignity.
In his article, the PM said that the upcoming visit is being organized to commemorate 75 years of the inauguration of the renovated Somnath Temple by the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The PM recalled attending the Somnath Swabhiman Parv held earlier this year to commemorate 1,000 years since the first attack on the temple, and described the journey to Somnath as a journey from ruins to reconstruction, from destruction to creation.
