Drugs delivered via Porter, students consumed ecstasy pills: Details emerge in Mumbai concert tragedy

New Delhi: The two MBA students, who allegedly died due to a drug overdose during a music concert in Mumbai’s Goregaon on Saturday, had taken more than one pill of the popular party drug ‘ecstasy’ (MDMA), a police probe into the incident revealed.

Two MBA students, including a woman, died, and another woman was hospitalised due to suspected drug overdose during the music concert at the Goregaon NESCO Exhibition Centre in the western suburbs. The victims, who were studying at a city-based management institute, were part of a group of 15 students who attended the concert.

The police on Monday arrested six persons, including the event organiser, a suspected drug supplier, and two students, in connection with the deaths.

The Vanrai Police have recorded the statements of 15 to 20 individuals who attended the party as well as those associated with the event.

One student survived due to vomitting

The preliminary probe revealed that the deaths of the two youths were caused by an overdose resulting from the consumption of more than one drug capsule.

Doctors believe that the young woman who survived was saved because she vomitted due to the drug overdose.

Drugs supplied via Porter

The investigation has revealed that drugs were supplied to the youth at the music concert via Porter courier service. The drug peddler, identified as Anand Patel, is among the six people arrested by the police. Interrogation has further revealed that Patel had supplied drugs on previous occasions as well.

Pratik Pandey, who was also arrested in connection with this case, has provided crucial information to the police. Based on Pratik’s statement, Anand Patel was arrested in Kalyan on charges of supplying drugs.

Influencer Orry was also present at the concert held at NESCO centre. Orry previously faced allegations of drug consumption.
