Emphasis was laid on empowerment of women in the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ organized at Ravindra Bhawan in the capital. Women from different regions said that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the country is moving towards creating a new history and the Nari Shakti Vandan Act will further strengthen democracy.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated

The program was started by Dr. Mohan Yadav. During this, he honored Khushi Rai and Chandni Vishwakarma (Bhopal), joint toppers of Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Secondary Education and high school topper Pratibha Singh Solanki (Panna).

Appreciation of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has empowered the country and Madhya Pradesh by completing many difficult tasks. He also mentioned about providing justice to women on issues like triple talaq. He said that Madhya Pradesh is the land of Queen Durgavati and Ahilyabai Holkar. During her rule, Ahilyabai constructed Baba Vishwanath Dham in Kashi and developed facilities for pilgrims at pilgrimage sites. This proves that when women participate in governance, major changes take place in the society.

Remembered historical women leaders

Mentioning Sumitra Mahajan, Vijaya Raje Scindia and Draupadi Murmu, the Chief Minister said that women have always played an important role in country building. He also said that 50% reservation is being given to women in urban bodies and in future, their participation will further increase with the implementation of 33% women’s reservation in Lok Sabha and Assembly. During this he also remembered Sushma Swaraj.

This conference is ‘a thought journey’

Minister of State Krishna Gaur said that this conference is not just a program but a journey of thoughts. He said that the objective of Nari Shakti Vandan Act is to further empower women. He said the journey for women’s reservation has been a long one—the bill could not be passed in 1996 and 1999, was introduced again in 2008 and passed in the Rajya Sabha in 2010, but got stuck in the Lok Sabha. Ultimately it was introduced in Parliament in 2023.

Women’s participation still limited

Krishna Gaur said that at present the participation of women in the Lok Sabha is only 14%. Even in Madhya Pradesh, only 27 women have been elected, which is 11% of the total seats. In such a situation, women’s reservation law is necessary to strengthen democracy.

Women will get leadership opportunity

Women and Child Development Minister Nirmala Bhuria said that this Act will provide new leadership opportunities to women. 33% reservation in Lok Sabha and Assembly will increase the participation of women and strengthen their role in policy making.

Indian women: symbol of strength and culture

Educationist Shobha Pethankar said that in Indian culture, women are considered a form of power. He said that a woman has qualities like Lakshmi, speech, memory, intelligence and intelligence. Referring to Savitribai Phule, he said that development is not possible without education. Also, giving examples of women like Jijabai, Rani Avantika Bai and Rani Avakka, he said that Indian women have given direction to the society in every era. He said that women should recognize their power and move forward with positive thinking.
