Delhi Weather Today: Rain, Gusty Winds To Hit Capital; IMD Issues Yellow Alert | Check Forecast

After several days of relief, Delhi saw a slight increase in temperature on Wednesday. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the next two days, starting today, warning of possible rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 km/h across the national capital.

Delhi Weather Update

The national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 39.1 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, 0.9 degrees below normal and 1.4 degrees more than a day before.

The minimum temperature also saw a slight increase, settling at 27.4 degrees Celsius, which is 0.5 degrees above normal and 0.6 degrees higher than Tuesday.

Yellow Alert For Next Two Days

The weather office has issued a yellow alert for Thursday and Friday. Delhi is expected to experience very light to light rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds at speeds of 40-50 km/h, with gusts up to 60 km/h.

The sky is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy for the next two days.

According to the IMD, the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 37-39 degrees Celsius over the next few days, while the minimum temperature will settle at 28 degrees Celsius.

What’s Ahead?

The Meteorological Department has forecast similar conditions for Saturday as well. However, no alert has been issued for the day yet.

Speaking to news agency PTI, Mahesh Palawat, vice-president at Skymet, said, “There is a fresh western disturbance and cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan, Haryana and northwest Rajasthan, as a result of which rain and thunderstorm activity is expected for the next three days.”

Southwest Monsoon To Hit India Today

The weather office has stated that the southwest monsoon is likely to arrive in Kerala and Tamil Nadu today. The weather department expects significant changes in the weather conditions across most states in the coming days.

According to the IMD, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in several states, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Kerala.
