Two ACPs were injured during stone pelting in two separate incidents in Delhi on Wednesday. One incident took place at Connaught Place, while the other took place at Jantar Mantar during a protest over the NEET paper leak. The police have brought the situation under control.
New Delhi [भारत]July 22 (ANI): A Delhi Police officer was injured after some miscreants threw stones and bottles at police in fresh violence at Connaught Place on Wednesday, officials said.
According to Delhi Police, at around 8:30 pm, some miscreants attacked the police with stones and bottles near Tolstoy Marg in Connaught Place, in which ACP Connaught Place Vivek Bhagat was injured. Senior officials took him to RML Hospital. Police officials said the situation was tense for a few minutes, but now there is peace.
Stones pelted even during demonstration on NEET issue
Earlier in the day, in another incident, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Delhi Police was injured when protesters allegedly pelted stones at him during a protest at Jantar Mantar in support of the NEET exam paper leak and their other demands. The ACP sustained injury on his forehead due to being hit by a stone.
Delhi Police said, “Around 4:30 pm, ACP/Punjabi Bagh Jai Prakash received an injury on his forehead while performing legal duty at Jantar Mantar when protesters resorted to stone pelting. A stone hit the ACP on his forehead. He has been admitted to the hospital for medical treatment. Any updates will be informed as and when received.”
Nadda met Sonam Wangchuk
Activist Sonam Wangchuk has reiterated her demand for an assurance of no legal action against the protesters as a condition for breaking her 25-day hunger strike. Union Health Minister JP Nadda, who accompanied Union Minister Jitendra Singh to meet activist Sonam Wangchuk at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon, said he requested her to break her fast and guide the children.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters here, Nadda said the government is open to discussion on all issues and is always ready to address them.
Answering questions, Nadda said that his meeting with the CJP delegation on Monday was held in a cordial atmosphere. He said the government will respond to Wangchuk’s letter written today and ensure that the talks move forward.
“We had gone to inquire about his health. He was shifted to Medanta from Safdarjung Hospital. Since he was in the ICU, the environment there was very restricted. During our visit, we inquired about his health and well-being,” he said.
He further said, “We also requested them to break their fast, join the mainstream and guide the children in the right direction. Our government is open to discussion on all issues and is always ready to address them… Today they have written an open letter to me. We will respond to that letter, and after responding, we will ensure that the talks move forward.”
Nadda said that the government is ready for further discussions with the representatives of the Cockroach Janata Party.
“The discussion took place in a very cordial atmosphere. We heard his views very calmly. I also told him that it would be better if he presented his points in writing. He has given all those points in writing… I also told him that we are ready to discuss. Whenever he asks, we are ready to discuss the matter… We had no meeting today.”
There should be no politics on paper leak issue: Nadda
Nadda said that the issue of paper leak should not be politicized and it is a serious problem which needs in-depth discussion. Nadda, who is the leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, said the government is ready to discuss all aspects of the NEET-UG paper leak in Parliament. (ANI)
