The parents of student Akanksha, who committed suicide after the NEET paper leak, have demanded justice and compensation. Dissatisfied with Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, the family demanded hanging of the culprits and also resignation of PM Modi.
The parents of Akanksha Chaturvedi, who committed suicide after the NEET-UG paper leak, have demanded justice and compensation for their daughter, and said they are not satisfied with the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. His mother Neelam Chaturvedi has demanded strict punishment for the culprits of the paper leak.
He also demanded the resignation of the top government leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He told ANI, “My daughter will not come back. We are not satisfied with anything. The government did not come to meet us. What will happen with the resignation? Our daughter should get compensation; we are not satisfied with the resignation. Our demand is that our daughter should get justice and compensation, and the culprits should be hanged. Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned; PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah should also resign. We had to sell our land; will she come back?”
Her father, Krishna Kumar Chaturvedi, said, “I don’t see anything else for my daughter. Our daughter wanted to serve the country by becoming a doctor.”
Government promises compensation
The NEET-UG exam was leaked in May, after which the government conducted the exam again on June 21. Union Minister JP Nadda announced that the government has agreed to provide appropriate compensation to the families of NEET aspirants who committed suicide. Amid the widespread controversy over paper leak, several NEET aspirants have reportedly committed suicide.
Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation and end of the movement
Earlier today, Dharmendra Pradhan submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he was stepping down in the larger interest of students so that the youth of the country “do not fall into the trap of confusion”.
What started as a satirical social media account over CJI Surya Kant’s remarks, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) along with activist Sonam Wangchuk led the agitation at Jantar Mantar in the national capital demanding Pradhan’s resignation. After three rounds of talks with Union Ministers Jitendra Singh and JP Nadda, CJP has now withdrawn its agitation.
