PBKS vs LSG Match: Ever since Rishabh Pant became the captain of Lucknow Super Giants after being bought for Rs 27 crores, he has not had a good time in the IPL. Rishabh Pant has not been able to do anything amazing with the bat, while he has failed in captaincy also. Even his small mistakes have proved harmful for the team. He made one such mistake in the match against Punjab Kings, for which Lucknow got the punishment in the form of 83 runs.
But what mistake did Rishabh Pant make? How did the team get this punishment? Let us tell the whole story. In the 29th match of IPL 2026 Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants Were face to face. This match was being played in the home ground of Punjab, in which Punjab itself batted first. This time the team had a bad start and explosive opener Prabhsimran Singh got out in the first over itself.
Rishabh Pant made a big mistake
Lucknow had a good opportunity to capitalize on this start, when Cooper Connolly was at the crease in the second over. There was an appeal for LBW against Connolly on the fourth ball of this over by Mohsin Khan, which was rejected by the umpire. It was here that LSG captain Pant made a mistake of which he had no idea at that time. Actually, Lucknow had a chance to appeal against the umpire’s decision and take the help of DRS. But Pant decided that he would not do this and this is where he made a mistake.
Rishabh Pant decided not to take DRS and this proved fatal for him. After some time, the replays showed that if a review had been taken, Connolly would have been out. At that time Connolly was on only 4 runs and for him it was no less than a life saver. After struggling to score runs for a long time in the beginning, Connolly’s bat took off and then he punished LSG for this mistake.
Connolly hit sixes and fours
Connolly completed his half-century in 34 balls and even after this he continued hitting sixes and fours. During this, he hit 3 consecutive sixes in one over of Aiden Markram. In the same over, Priyansh Arya also hit 2 sixes and collected a total of 32 runs from the over. However, Connolly could not complete his century and finally returned to the pavilion after getting out in the 14th over. He scored 87 runs in just 46 balls, which included 8 fours and 7 sixes i.e. 15 boundaries.
