Chhattisgarh Rural Development News: Under the “Mor Gaon-Mor Pani” campaign, 1700 wells, 2541 soak pits and 87 ponds were renovated in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district of Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh Rural Development: Under the “Mor Gaon-Mor Pani” campaign of the state government, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district has made remarkable achievements in the field of water conservation and rural development. With effective coordination of various schemes including Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA), extensive work has been done in the district for water conservation, ground water level improvement and strengthening rural livelihoods. This campaign has now taken the form of a mass movement, in which active participation of the administration and the general public is being seen.

Rural empowerment through construction of more than 1700 livelihood dabris.

Under the theme “Water Conservation is Our Responsibility” more than 1700 livelihood dabris were constructed in the district. Water conservation has been directly linked to livelihood by developing an average of 9 dabris in each panchayat. This is helping farmers and villagers to have water available throughout the year and agricultural production has also improved.

Rainwater Harvesting: Soakage Pits and Pond Renovation

To promote rain water harvesting, 2541 soak pits were constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Along with this, 175 sack bunds, 3600 contour trenches and 87 ponds were renovated. Programs like rally, Kalash Yatra, oath taking and lamp donation were organized for public awareness, which increased the awareness of water conservation among the people.

Improvement in ground water level: Increase of 2.19 meters

According to the data of Jaldoot app, there has been significant improvement in the ground water level in the district. Compared to pre-monsoon 2024, an increase of 1.81 meters has been recorded in 2025 and 2.19 meters in post-monsoon. These figures show the success and effectiveness of this campaign.

Development blocks came in safe category

According to the notification of the Ministry of Rural Development dated September 23, 2025, all three development blocks of the district, which were earlier in the semi-critical category, have now been declared “safe blocks”. This achievement is the result of collective effort, public participation and better water management.
