Balod’s farmer Kranti Bhushan Sahu set an example of modern farming by transplanting paddy with a paddy transplanter machine. This has increased the expectation of better production along with saving time, labor and cost.
Raipur. In Chhattisgarh, farmers are rapidly adopting new technologies to modernize farming. With the use of modern agricultural equipment, farming has now become more scientific, less costly and completed on time. An inspiring example of this change was seen in village Bhardakala of Gunderdehi development block of Balod district, where farmer and Sarpanch Kranti Bhushan Sahu has shown a new path for other farmers by successfully using paddy transplanter (paddy transplanting machine) in his fields.
Paddy transplantation completed in less time with paddy transplanter machine
Kranti Bhushan Sahu, who cultivates about 35 to 40 acres of land, planted paddy in about 10 to 12 acres of land this season with a paddy transplanter machine. He said that it used to take about 20 to 25 days to plant paddy using traditional methods using laborers. But with the help of the machine, this work was completed in a systematic and precise manner in a very short time.
Better harvest and easier agricultural work by planting in straight rows
Kranti Bhushan Sahu told that plants are planted at fixed distances and in straight rows with the paddy transplanter machine. This improves the growth of the crop and later other agricultural work including weeding can be done easily. He says that due to scientific planting, crop management is better and the possibility of increasing production is also higher.
Modern agricultural technology becomes effective solution to labor shortage
He said that shortage of laborers becomes the biggest problem faced by farmers during the farming season. In such a time, modern machines like paddy transplanter are proving to be very useful for the farmers. This technology not only saves labor but also saves time. Due to this, farming is completed on time and the quality of production is also positively affected.
Little cost in the beginning, but big benefits in the long run
Kranti Bhushan Sahu said that to adopt this technology, a tray based nursery has to be prepared, due to which the initial cost increases slightly. However, for farmers cultivating large areas, this technology proves to be more economical and profitable in the long run. He said that with the use of machines the total cost of farming remains controlled and farmers get additional benefits by saving time.
Agricultural mechanization is the need of future, farmers should adopt new technology
Kranti Bhushan Sahu appealed to the farmers to adopt modern agricultural techniques and said that the availability of workers could become a constant challenge in the future. In such a situation, agricultural mechanization is the best option for timely farming and better production. He said that under the guidance of the Agriculture Department, many farmers of the area are now showing interest in understanding and adopting paddy transplanter technology. This is expected to help in timely planting of paddy, better crop management and increase production.
