The first phase of Census 2027 has started in Chhattisgarh, in which more than 51 thousand employees are going door-to-door and collecting data through digital medium. This process is completely mobile app based and the information of the citizens will be kept completely safe.
Field work for the first phase—houselisting and housing census—under Census of India 2027 has officially begun in Chhattisgarh. This campaign will start from 01 May and will run till 30 May 2026. For this, 51,300 enumerators and 9,000 observers have been deployed across the state, who are collecting information from door to door.
Digital Census India: Completely digital census for the first time
This time’s census is special because it is being conducted completely through digital medium. Using the mobile app, the enumerators are recording data on a total of 33 questions related to the condition of the houses, facilities available to the families and assets. This will make the process faster and more accurate.
Census Duty Rules: Strict action against employees missing from duty
The administration has adopted a tough stance regarding the census work. Notices have been issued to 44 employees found absent on duty in Raipur Municipal Corporation under the Census Act 1948 and Chhattisgarh Civil Conduct Rules. Officials have clearly stated that obstructing or refusing this work is a punishable offence.
Bastar Success Story: Great work even in difficult areas
An enumerator in village Gatam of Tokapal tehsil of Bastar district set an example by completing his work on the very first day despite difficult circumstances. On the very first day, District Collector and Municipal Corporation Commissioners went to the field and inspected and encouraged the employees.
Self Enumeration India: People filled their information themselves
The impact of digital literacy was also clearly visible in this campaign. Between April 16 and 30, 1,49,862 families completed their self enumeration through the web portal. This shows people’s awareness and increasing trust in technology.
Data Privacy Census: Information is completely secure
The Census Directorate has assured the citizens that all their personal information will remain completely confidential under the Census Act 1948. This data can neither be used in tax, police investigation nor court case. Even through RTI, personal information will not be shared. These data will be used only for government schemes and development of the country.
Citizen Appeal Census: It is important to give correct information
The administration has appealed to the citizens of the state that whenever the enumerators come to their homes, they should give them correct and complete information. Your cooperation will play an important role in the development of the country and making better plans.
