CBSE Revaluation 2026 Process: The controversy that started after CBSE 12th Result 2026 has now reached a new turn. The board is opening the window for revaluation and verification from today, but this time it is not just about marks but also about the questions raised on the transparency of the entire evaluation system. While the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, implemented for the first time this year, was considered a big step towards digital evaluation, the complaints that surfaced after the results have raised questions on the entire system. CBSE Answer Sheet Request 2026: 4 lakh students asked for answer sheet, more than 11 lakh copies requested
According to the official data of CBSE, this time the scale of the process is very big. A total of 4,04,319 students applied to check their answer sheet. 11,31,961 answer books have been requested. More than 8,98,214 answer sheets have already been made available in digital form. It is clear from these figures that this time there is not only curiosity but also dissatisfaction and doubt among the students.
Why questions were raised on CBSE OSM system?
CBSE implemented the OSM system for the first time this year, in which the copies were not checked physically but on scanned digital sheets. The board had described it as a fast and transparent process, but after the results, many complaints started appearing on social media. These include complaints of low marks, allegations of some answers not being checked, problems of blurred or incomplete scanned copies, portal crashes and login problems. In some cases, students also claimed that the marking in their answer sheets appeared incomplete or mismatched.
CBSE Class 12 Re-Evaluation Fees: CBSE makes big cut in fees
Amidst the growing controversy, CBSE has made a major change in the fees of post-result services. According to the new fee structure-
- Copy of answer sheet: Rs 100 per subject
- Marks Verification: Rs 100 per subject
- Revaluation: Rs 25 per question
- Earlier this process was very expensive, where fees up to Rs 700 were being charged for copy, Rs 500 for verification and Rs 100 for revaluation per question. The board has also made it clear that if the marks increase after revaluation, the fees will be refunded.
CBSE Re-Evaluation Process: How to apply
The entire process has been kept online for the students. The steps are like this-
1. Download the Answer Sheet First- Students have to download their digital copy.
2. Check carefully-
- Are all pages present?
- Are all answers checked?
- Is totaling correct or not?
3. Application for verification
- If any kind of mistake is found then verification will have to be done.
4. Revaluation option
- Re-checking can be requested for selected questions.
- Keep in mind: Marks may increase, decrease or remain the same.
CBSE Board Copy Checking Digital System’s New Challenge and Question of Trust
This time the entire digital evaluation system of CBSE is spread across approximately 17 lakh students and 98 lakh answer sheets. It is being told that about 40 crore pages have been scanned. Although technical partnership was done with IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras and some PSU banks, there is still a clear lack of trust among students and parents regarding the system. Meanwhile, some cyber security claims and technical glitches related to the portal further increased the controversy.

This revaluation window, which started from May 29, 2026, will decide in the coming days how many students stop just after seeing the answer sheet and how many go ahead and demand change in marks. According to the recent estimate of the Education Minister, about 20% students can go for revaluation, but the real figure will become clear only in the coming days.
