Boston Red Sox Place Sonny Gray on Injured List, Recall Tyler Samaniego

BOSTON (AP) – The Boston Red Sox announced on Tuesday that they have placed right-hander Sonny Gray on the 15-day injured list due to a right hamstring strain.

To fill his spot on the roster, the team has recalled left-handed pitcher Tyler Samaniego from Triple-A Worcester.

Gray’s injury occurred during a game against the Detroit Tigers on Monday, where he pitched only 2 2/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits. Following the game, he reported discomfort in his right leg, noting that he had experienced similar issues in previous seasons.

Sonny Gray’s Performance and Injury Details

Sonny Gray, 36, has recorded a 2-1 record with a 4.30 ERA over five starts this season. Throughout his 14-year career with six different teams, he has amassed a record of 127-103 and a career ERA of 3.59. Gray commented on his condition, stating, “I kind of knew what it was. It just happens every now and then. It’s just something that I’m always having to monitor since the first time it happened.”

Tyler Samaniego’s Recall
