Congress cornered on Constitution Amendment Bill

Speaking to ANI regarding the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament, Rao criticized the Congress for possible opposition to the move. Let us tell you that the 130th Amendment Bill can be a major issue in this session. Rao defended the need for the amendment by explaining, “A Prime Minister, Chief Minister or Minister, who is arrested in a case punishable with imprisonment of five years or more and remains in custody for 30 consecutive days, will have to step down from office.” “I think the Congress wants to oppose everything that the BJP government brings, whether it is good for the people or not,” he said.

Recalling an old incident from the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) era, the BJP leader accused the Congress of being inconsistent. He said, “In fact, it was the Congress that brought this amendment that people involved in criminal cases should not file nominations. This was their proposal during the time of Manmohan Singh, and Rahul Gandhi had torn that paper. Now, when the system is being cleaned up and criminalization is being ended, why should the Congress oppose this move? I think they want to oppose every step of the BJP government, whether it is for the welfare of the people or not.”

Reply regarding comment on RSS

Rao also responded to Congress MP Mallu Ravi’s comments about the influence of “Congress Swayamsevak Sangh” (CSS) and RSS on BJP’s election victories. He said that BJP’s success is based on the support of the public rather than any single organization. Rao said, “Mr. Mallu Ravi says that ‘Congress Swayamsevak Sangh’ is already there and BJP is winning because of RSS. He should understand that BJP is winning because it has the support of the people.”

He further claimed that the Congress is “upset” with the activities of the RSS as its influence is growing. He said, “I think they are upset with the activities of RSS because (RSS) is reaching out to people and exposing the anti-national mentality of many organizations and political parties. In this background, Congress leaders are upset, and that is why they are commenting on RSS.” (ANI)
