UP Weather Update: The weather is going to take a turn again in Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of strong storm, rain, lightning and hailstorm in many districts. There is a possibility of bad weather in western UP and Terai areas from 4 to 5 May.
Uttar Pradesh Rain Alert: People troubled by the scorching heat in Uttar Pradesh may get some relief from the weather in the coming 24 hours, but this relief also brings with it a warning of danger. The Meteorological Department has predicted strong storm, rain, lightning and hailstorm in many districts of the state. Orange alert has been issued especially for the districts of Western Uttar Pradesh and Terai region. According to the latest forecast of Weather Center Lucknow, a major change can be seen in the weather of the state from the morning of 4th May 2026 to the morning of 5th May 2026. The Meteorological Department has advised people to be cautious and not to step out of the house unnecessarily during bad weather.

Possibility of heavy rain and storm in these districts
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a high risk of heavy rain and storm in many districts of Western UP and Terai region. The districts for which orange alert has been issued include:
- Saharanpur
- Muzaffarnagar
- baghpat
- Meerut
- Bijnor
- Amroha
- Moradabad
- Lakhimpur Kheri
- Bahraich
- Shravasti
- Balrampur
- Siddharthnagar
- Maharajganj
There is a possibility of heavy rain with strong winds in these areas and hailstorm at some places.
What dangers did the Meteorological Department warn about?
In the weather warning issued for May 4, the Meteorological Department has asked people to be alert against three major risks.
- Danger of lightning: There is a possibility of strong lightning in the sky and rain with thunder. It has been advised to avoid standing in open fields, under trees or near electric poles.
- Dusty storm and strong winds: Dusty storms and strong winds may occur in many areas. This is likely to reduce visibility and affect road traffic.
- Possibility of hailstorm: There is also a possibility of hailstorm in some districts under orange alert. This can cause damage to crops and can also cause problems to vehicles and people parked in the open.
What will be the situation in the districts under yellow alert?
Yellow alert has been issued in many districts of the central and eastern parts of the state. This means that the weather will not be completely normal and people will need to constantly keep an eye on updates. Major cities included in these areas are:

Light to moderate rain, strong wind or thunderstorm may occur in these areas.
Bundelkhand is currently in relief
According to the Meteorological Department, no warning has been issued at present in many districts of Bundelkhand region. That means the weather here can remain relatively normal. The districts included in the green zone are:

- Jalaun
- Hamirpur

- Chitrakoot
- Lalitpur

How long will the warning remain in effect?
This warning of the Meteorological Department will be effective from 8:30 am on May 4, 2026 to 8:30 am on May 5, 2026. Experts believe that due to the effect of heat and western disturbance, the weather is changing suddenly in many parts of North India. This is the reason why storms and rains are being seen even in the beginning of May.
