America-Iran tension reached a dangerous point. Drone attacks on Bahrain, tanker targeting in the Strait of Hormuz, US retaliatory airstrike and Trump’s warning further increased tensions across West Asia.
Manama/Washington: The biggest and most terrifying news of this time is coming from West Asia, which has brought the whole world to the brink of the Third World War. Just last week, the fragile ceasefire that was implemented between America and Iran under the first historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed after the 1979 Islamic Revolution has been destroyed in a moment. All avenues of diplomacy have been closed and now guns and missiles have taken over.
That dreadful action of midnight: America’s massive airstrike on Iran
The dispute began when a suspected Iranian drone attack was carried out on a commercial shipping tanker passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Amidst the pressure of rising energy prices and the US midterm elections to be held in a few months, US President Donald Trump took a very tough stance on this. Without wasting any time, the US military launched swift retaliatory air strikes at midnight on Iran’s missile and drone bases as well as coastal radar sites. In a statement immediately after these attacks, Donald Trump gave a very strong warning to Iran, saying, “The time for talks is over. Diplomacy is over. Let’s see what happens next.”

Iran’s bloody revenge: Direct attack on US Navy headquarters in Bahrain!
These American air strikes completely infuriated Iran. In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that they had targeted “US terrorist forces” positions in the region. Within no time, the land of Bahrain was shaken by powerful explosions. Iran launched a direct attack on the US Navy’s most important and strategic base in Bahrain – the headquarters of the Fifth Fleet – with heavy missiles and several suicide drones. US Vice President JD Vance, reacting to this, claimed that despite Iran’s audacity, America has the upper hand and will win ‘under any circumstances’.
Open condemnation of Bahrain: ‘Open threat to the safety of citizens’
Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry has issued an emergency formal statement following this direct and audacious cross-border attack by Iran. Bahrain has strongly condemned these attacks, calling them a violation of the country’s sovereignty and an ‘open threat to the security of citizens and residents’. However, it is a matter of relief that there were no immediate official reports of any casualties or major damage in the attacks by “several drones” fired on Bahrain and another ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

The dream of 60 days of peace is over: Will the destruction be able to stop?
This historic agreement between the two countries brought the hope of a fragile peace for 60 days, so that talks could be made for a permanent peace. But the ongoing standoff over control over the trade route of the Strait of Hormuz has completely buried this hope. Defense experts believe that this war that has started on this biggest route of global shipping infrastructure and oil is not going to stop here. The series of retaliatory attacks from both sides have made it clear that West Asia is currently standing at a point of destruction from where there is no way of return.
