Washington DC [अमेरिका]July 23 (ANI): The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested an Indian national, Harmanveer Singh. He is accused of being involved in drug smuggling cases linked to the Canada-based Ravinder Dhandha gang. The arrest is part of “Operation Hard Ball”, a joint international operation targeting the syndicate run by Lawrence Bishnoi, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and Ravinder Dhandha.
The FBI said Wednesday that Singh was taken into custody by California Highway Patrol officers in Stockton, California, on Tuesday.
What is the whole matter?
The federal agency said he was wanted for his alleged role in an international criminal network. The network also engaged in a conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, as well as a conspiracy to export controlled substances.
Network of Ravinder Dhandha Organized Crime Group
The FBI further revealed that the “Ravindar Dhandha Organized Crime Group” is based in Vancouver, Canada and allegedly smuggled large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine to drug trafficking organizations in the US, Canada and Mexico.
On June 23, 2026, a federal arrest warrant was issued against Singh in the United States District Court, Central District of California, Los Angeles. He was charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, conspiracy to export, and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
Major action under Operation Hard Ball
The action follows a joint operation earlier this month in which law enforcement officials in the US, Canada and Europe arrested 24 people linked to three India-based international organized crime syndicates.
Of those detained, 11 were arrested in California. In total, the US Justice Department has charged 37 people under “Operation Hard Ball”.
According to officials, Singh’s arrest is the latest action under “Operation Hard Ball”. The operation sees coordinated enforcement measures taken across multiple countries against alleged members and associates of the three organized crime groups. (ANI)
