Here a thief broke the donation box kept in the temple with a trident and ran away with the cash. This entire incident happened at around 2 am on the night of 13 May and was captured in the CCTV cameras of the temple. When the priest reached the temple in the morning, he informed the police.

The thief entered the temple at around 2 o’clock in the night

According to police sources, the accused had entered the temple alone at around 2:00 in the night.

Officials said that the man first tried to open the hundi, i.e. donation box, with his hands. But, when he failed to break it, he used the trident kept with the deity inside the temple.

Police said the accused picked up a trident and kept hitting the donation box continuously until it broke. After collecting the money kept inside, he fled from the temple premises.

This theft went unnoticed for several hours.

The incident came to light in the morning when the temple priest arrived to begin the daily puja and prayers.

According to temple officials, the priests found the hundi broken and the cash inside the donation box was missing. Later, the temple trustees reached Indiranagar police station and lodged an official complaint regarding the theft.

The police have now registered the case and started investigation.

Officials are examining CCTV footage of the temple and surrounding areas to identify and trace the accused.
