While inaugurating the Balram Krishi Mahotsav in Indore, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav made many big announcements for Farmer Welfare Year, irrigation, dairy, food processing and increasing the income of farmers.
Bhopal/Indore. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the Balram Krishi Mahotsav by unveiling the picture of Lord Balram in Indore on July 15. On this occasion, he said that celebrating the year 2026 as Farmer Welfare Year, the state government is implementing many new schemes in the interest of farmers. He informed that various programs related to farmer welfare will be organized across the state for the next six months.
The Chief Minister said that with the aim of increasing the income of farmers, a coordinated action plan has been prepared by connecting 16 departments including horticulture and MSME. Farmers doing excellent work, social media influencers creating agriculture-based content and students performing excellently in board exams were also honored in the programme.
Balram Krishi Mahotsav 2026: 16 departments will work together in the year of farmers welfare
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the state government does not want to limit agriculture to farming only, but is working towards increasing the income of farmers by linking it with industry, processing and market. He said that under the Kisan Kalyan Varsh, many programs will be organized in the next six months in collaboration with agriculture, horticulture, MSME, animal husbandry and other departments, so that farmers can get better information about modern technology, new schemes and the market.
MP Industrial Growth: Madhya Pradesh moving ahead with industry and employment
The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the year 2025 was dedicated to industry and employment. In this direction, programs related to industrial development were organized at the division, district and tehsil level of the state. He said that today Madhya Pradesh is fast becoming a center of industrial investment and many big industrial groups are investing in the state. This is creating new employment opportunities and strengthening the local economy.
Narmada Water Project: Narmada water becomes the new force for the development of Indore.
The Chief Minister said that Madhya Pradesh is called the motherland of rivers, because more than 250 rivers flow here. He said that due to the commitment of the government, Mother Narmada water has been made available to Indore. He said that the plan of Narmada Valley Project was prepared in the year 1977, but for a long time work on it was not done at the expected pace. Later the project gained momentum and other states including Madhya Pradesh also benefited from it.
Farmers Benefit: Irrigation increased, support price of wheat and soybean got benefit
The Chief Minister said that due to Narmada projects, the scope of irrigation in the state has continuously increased. Where once the irrigated area was only 7.5 lakh hectares, now it has increased to 65 lakh hectares. In the last two and a half years alone, approximately 10 lakh hectares of area has been connected to irrigation.
He said that production has increased due to water reaching the fields and the government is making continuous efforts to provide better prices to the farmers for their produce. He told that the price of wheat in the state has reached Rs 2625 per quintal. At the same time, soybean producers have also been given the benefit of Bhavantar Scheme.
Farm to Market Ecosystem: New agricultural model being prepared from farm to market
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the government is working on ‘Farm to Market’ model to make agriculture a profitable business. He said that agricultural loans are being provided to farmers at zero interest rate and the requirement to repay the loan by March 31 has also been removed. Also, many districts of Bundelkhand and Western Madhya Pradesh will get the benefit of irrigation and drinking water from Ken-Betwa Link Project and Parvati-Chambal-Kalisindh (PKC) Project. He said that food processing units are being established to promote agro-based industries, which will develop a strong supply chain from farm to market.
PepsiCo Investment: Potato producing farmers will get big benefits
The Chief Minister said that big companies are investing in the state. He said that with the establishment of PepsiCo’s unit in Ujjain, potato producing farmers of 32 districts of the state will get direct benefits. He also said that under the Chief Minister Sugam Parivahan Yojana, bus services will be expanded in the state, which will provide better transportation facilities to both farmers and common citizens.
Dairy Development: Government’s big target to increase milk production
The Chief Minister said that to increase the income of farmers, special attention is being given to animal husbandry and dairy sector. The government has set a target of increasing milk production in the state from 8 percent to 20 percent. He informed that under Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Scheme, a grant of up to Rs 10 lakh is being given for setting up a dairy unit worth up to Rs 40 lakh.
The Chief Minister said that cow shelters are being operated on a large scale in the state and a grant of Rs 40 per day is being given for each cow. Modern technology will be used to manage stray cattle that damage crops.
NDDB MoU: Animal farmers will get better price of milk
The Chief Minister informed that the state government has entered into an agreement with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). After this, cattle farmers have started getting more profit by 8 to 10 rupees per liter in the price of milk. He said that the government has also started new schemes for the development of fisheries sector, so that along with agriculture, the income of farmers can be increased from animal husbandry and fisheries.
