Why celebrate Bakrid?
Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated to remember the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim, the prophet of Muslims and the ancestor of Hazrat Mohammad. There is a belief in the Muslim community that Allah had asked for the sacrifice of the most precious thing to test the devotion of Ibrahim. To fulfill this, Ibrahim had decided to sacrifice his young son Ismail for Allah. Just as he was about to sacrifice his son, Allah placed a calf in his place. Following the same tradition, Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid-ul-Azha. Animals are sacrificed on this day.
