New Delhi: Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav on Monday lashed out at the government over the police action taken against the students protesting at Jantar Mantar. He described it as a “black day for democracy” and demanded the removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Dimple alleged that students were beaten, their clothes were torn and excessive force was used during the protest. He said that the opposition will raise this issue in Parliament and seek answers from the government.

Dimple Yadav said, “Students have been beaten. Today will be remembered as a dark day for democracy and our history. You could see shame in the eyes of some policemen too. Yet, in the name of duty, they removed their name badges and moved ahead. Some policemen behaved like goons. Some were cooperative, while some came without uniform and beat the students, even giving them electric shocks. Is Abhijeet Dipke lying?
- Delhi Police rejected Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)’s claims that its founder Abhijit Dipke was detained during the party’s ‘Sansad Chalo’ protest. The police described the allegations as “completely false”, saying that he was “present on the stage.”
