Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth nearly Rs 17,900 crore in Andhra Pradesh, including the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district.
The PM will later travel to Karnataka to inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre, Viveka Smaraka, in Mysuru.
Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport, Andhra Pradesh
The Greenfield airport being commissioned at Bhogapuram has been constructed using the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with an expenditure of more than Rs 5,640 crore.
The airport is designed to cater to up to 60 lakh passengers per year, and its construction will help improve aviation connectivity along with the development of tourism, trade and investment in the area.
The passenger terminal features advanced technologies, including:
– Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based systems
– Biometric passenger processing
– Automated baggage handling systems
– Building Information Modelling (BIM)
– Airside 4.0 technologies
– Airport Predictive Operations Centre (APOC)
The terminal facilities come with a variety of sustainability measures, which consist of a 5 MW solar plant, rainwater harvesting, energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems, intelligent building management, waste management and parking for electric vehicles.
The ceiling of the terminal roof is based on Araku Valley’s cultural heritage and Andhra Pradesh’s heritage reflected in the building.
Other Andhra Pradesh Projects
During his visit, PM Modi is to launch and lay the foundation stone for several projects, including:
– ASIP Semiconductor Project in Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh’s first semiconductor manufacturing facility approved under the India Semiconductor Mission. The Rs 460-crore project is expected to produce around 9.6 crore semiconductor chips annually and create high-skilled employment.
– Renewable energy transmission projects: Projects worth nearly Rs 10,000 crore aimed at improving renewable energy evacuation from Kurnool and Anantapur renewable energy zones.
– National Highway projects: Works worth over Rs 1,880 crore to improve connectivity, reduce travel time and enhance road safety.
Viveka Smaraka, Mysuru, Karnataka
After completing his Andhra Pradesh visit, PM Modi will inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre – Viveka Smaraka in Mysuru.
The centre, built at the historic Niranjana Math, commemorates Swami Vivekananda’s visit to Mysuru in 1892.
Spread across more than 81,000 square feet, the facility includes:
– 4-D Experience Centre
– Exhibition hall
– Amphitheatre with seating for around 700 people
– Classrooms and conference rooms
– Library and reading room
– Meditation and yoga hall
– Facilities for students preparing for competitive examinations
The centre aims to promote value-based education, leadership and personality development among young people and is expected to benefit more than 10,000 students and youth.
