The shocking truth of Indore’s Khajrana Civil Hospital! Even after 6 years, no land, no building, still 87 staff and transfers continue. After all, what is the secret of this ‘ghost hospital’ running on paper?
Indore Ghost Hospital: Have you ever heard of a hospital where there are luxurious posts, appointments of doctors and nurses, regular transfer orders are also issued, but in reality not a single brick of that hospital exists? One such shocking and administrative negligence case has come to light from Indore, the financial capital of Madhya Pradesh. This is the story of Indore’s Khajrana Civil Hospital, which has been ‘alive’ only in government files and portals for the last six years, while there is not even a trace of it on the ground.
That ‘mysterious’ transfer order of June 2026
The most shocking aspect of this haunted hospital is that it is still fully active on government documents. More recently, an official posting order was issued by the Health Department on June 15, 2026. Under this order, a lab technician was transferred directly to ‘Khajrana Civil Hospital’. The interesting thing is that till date neither any building has been constructed in the hospital where this employee was sent nor any patient has ever been admitted. This strange transfer has exposed the system.
Expectations of 3 lakh people and 87 ‘invisible’ government posts
This whole story started on June 23, 2020, when the Madhya Pradesh government approved a 100-bed civil hospital for the highly densely populated Khajrana area of Indore. The objective of this project was to provide direct health benefits to more than three lakh people of areas like Khajrana, Musakhedi, Tejaji Nagar and Bicholi Hapsi. Also, this was to reduce the burden of patients on big hospitals of the city like MY, MTH and District Hospital. Along with the approval, the government also gave green signal to 87 government posts for this hospital. These posts included specialist doctors, medical officers, staff nurses, pharmacists and lab technicians. But even after six years, this hospital could not come out of the files because the Health Department could not get the land allotted for it.

The illusion of government portals: Work somewhere else, attendance somewhere else!
What is happening to these 87 employees without a building? The answer to this is also very interesting. In fact, this entire staff appears to be part of this ‘ghost hospital’ on the departmental portals. But in reality, these employees have been attached to Indore’s PC Sethi Hospital, Hukumchand Hospital and various Sanjeevani clinics. On paper, they are employees of Khajrana Hospital, but in reality this hospital has neither any ward, nor any bed, nor any fixed address. The direct brunt of this administrative failure is being borne by the local people, who even today have to visit remote and overcrowded hospitals in the city for treatment.
“Land not available…” Helplessness of government and officials
When the murmur in the political circles increased on this strange matter, statements also came out from the government side. State Deputy CM and Health Minister Rajendra Shukla admitted that there were changes in this proposal with time. “Earlier it was an urban primary health centre, which was later upgraded to a 50-bed hospital. The sanctioned posts are visible on the departmental portal and the staff has been adjusted at other places. We are looking for land,” he said. At the same time, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Madhav Hasani also advocated that the acquisition of land in urban areas is a very difficult and time-consuming task, due to which the possession of the land has not been taken yet and the data is yet to be updated.
Illegal possession game or mega scam? sharp attitude of the opposition
After this sensational revelation, the politics of the state has completely heated up. Senior Congress leader and former minister Sajjan Singh Verma has called it a big scam and demanded a high-level investigation. Launching a scathing attack, he said, “It is a very strange and ridiculous situation that there is no hospital on the ground, yet appointments and transfers are taking place there. Congress will raise this issue vigorously in the upcoming assembly session.”
On the other hand, Khajrana Hospital Sangharsh Committee Chairman Arshad Mirza Baig has made a very serious allegation. He says that land is available for the hospital, but the department is deliberately making excuses because that precious government land is in illegal possession of the land mafia. Now it remains to be seen whether this ‘ghost hospital’, exposed in the year 2026, will ever be able to land on the ground of reality or will this dreadful game of transfers of doctors continue on paper only?
