Samajwadi Party chief and Lok Sabha MP Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Center over the NEET paper leak issues and alleged that the government’s accountability seems limited to ‘filling the accounts’.
Speaking to reporters from the Parliament complex, the SP chief said that the party is closely monitoring the functioning of both the Uttar Pradesh government and the Centre. Yadav said, “We are from Uttar Pradesh. We are looking at the functioning of the UP government, and we can also look at the Government of India. Whose accountability is this? It was the government’s accountability. It seems that their capability is limited to filling the accounts and we are seeing this very closely in Uttar Pradesh. What is the accountability? Their ability to fill the accounts seems to be their accountability.”
Opposition counterattacks on announcement of fast-track court
Responding to PM Modi’s post on setting up fast-track courts, Samajwadi Party MP Pushpendra Saroj said the Prime Minister should focus on making policy-level changes to stop paper leaks and ensure timely exams. Saroj said, “How much importance the future of the youth has for the Prime Minister is evident from the way tear gas is being used on them and lathicharge is being done… As far as fast-track courts are concerned, it is a case of action followed by reaction. Fast-track courts will not work. What do they want to discuss with the NTA and NP policies? What changes do they want to bring so that the paper is not leaked, the paper is conducted on time?” So that the paper is not leaked and children’s lives are not ruined? What do you want to react to that, Prime Minister?… The PM should talk about the changes he is going to make at the policy level.
NDA vs INDIA in Parliament complex
Meanwhile, a direct confrontation was witnessed between the NDA and INDIA block MPs inside the Parliament complex on Thursday as both the parties protested together at Makar Dwar over different issues. Congress Parliamentary Party president Sonia Gandhi, party MP Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and others joined the INDIA Bloc protest. NDA MPs are also protesting in front of INDIA alliance MPs.
Responding to PM Modi’s tweet on setting up fast-track courts to ensure stringent punishment to those involved in the paper leak, Congress MP Rajiv Shukla said, “Fast-track courts will do nothing. First, punish the top officials responsible as per the demand. That (fast-track courts) will be a secondary process as they will get bail.”

Amid growing protests against the Center over the NEET paper leak issue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday stressed the importance of the future of the youth and announced that fast-track courts will be set up to ensure quick and stringent punishment to those involved in paper leaks. In a post on Twitter, PM Modi said those playing with the future of the youth “will not be spared,” and said the authorities concerned have been instructed to take all necessary measures. (ANI)
