Bharti Airtel on Tuesday launched a new service, ‘Priority Postpaid’, that uses 5G network slicing technology to offer postpaid users a more consistent and reliable mobile experience, even during periods of heavy network traffic.
Bharti Airtel said the service is available across all its postpaid plans and will be enabled automatically for existing subscribers.
The company said it has upgraded its standalone 5G network with slicing technology, which allows network capacity to be dynamically segmented and allocated to specific users, ensuring better service quality and seamless connectivity.
Airtel said the launch marks the first commercial deployment of 5G slicing-based services in India.
Similar services have been introduced in countries such as the United States, Singapore, United Kingdom and Malaysia.
“Priority Postpaid is our latest innovation powered by 5G slicing technology,” said Airtel MD & CEO Shashwat Sharma. “It provides a superior, more reliable, and dependable experience to our customers – whether they are attending a client call in traffic, or streaming at a packed concert, or booking a cab in a crowded market.”
Priority Postpaid is available on all Airtel postpaid plans starting at ₹449 per month plus taxes. Higher-value plans priced at ₹699, ₹999, ₹1,199 and ₹1,749 offer additional bundled benefits such as Amazon Prime, Netflix, Apple TV+, Apple Music and Adobe Express premium subscriptions.
The company said customers can access the service on any compatible 5G standalone smartphone running the latest software updates.
Prepaid users can switch to Priority Postpaid through the Airtel Thanks app or by visiting Airtel retail stores.
