What is the mathematics of performing Aarti 14 times?

According to the scriptures, Aarti is performed a total of 14 times. It is divided into four different stages. Each foot is associated with a particular part of the Lord’s body. First of all the lamp is rotated 4 times in front of the feet of the Lord. It is considered a symbol of humility and dedication. After this, Aarti is performed twice in front of the navel of the Lord.

In religious beliefs, the navel is considered the center of creation and life energy. In the third step, the lamp is rotated once in front of the Lord’s Mukh Mandal. It is considered to be a tribute to God’s glory, grace and divine aura. At the end, Aarti is performed 7 times around the entire body of the Lord from head to feet. By adding all these steps the total number is 14, hence it is called 14 times Aarti.

Why is the shape of Om made while performing Aarti?

According to beliefs, while performing Aarti, the lamp should be rotated in such a way that a shape like Om is formed in the air. In Hindu religion, Om is considered the most sacred sound of creation. It is said that when the devotee performs Aarti while making the shape of Om in front of God, then the worship is considered more auspicious and effective.

Spiritual importance of Aarti

According to religious scriptures, Aarti is not just an act of rotating the lamp, but it is a medium of energy, devotion and dedication between the devotee and God. The flame of Aarti is considered a symbol of positive energy. It is believed that Aarti performed as per rituals brings positivity, peace and happiness and prosperity in the house.
