Sanjay Dutt starrer ‘Aakhri Sawaal’ finally released in theaters after the censor controversy, but the film had a very weak opening. This film, based on political and ideological issues, has received mixed reviews from critics. Now the makers’ eyes are fixed on the weekend collection.
Sanjay Dutt’s most awaited film ‘Aakhri Sawal’ has finally been released in theaters after a long controversy and delay. There was not much buzz about the film before its release, the impact of which was clearly visible on its initial box office performance. This film based on political and ideological debates has taken a very slow start on the first day. According to reports, the film did not succeed in drawing the audience to the theater as expected. The special thing is that in recent years, Sanjay Dutt has mostly appeared in multi-starrer films, so fans were expecting his strong solo comeback from this film. Now all eyes are on the weekend.
First day’s earnings of ‘Aakhri Sawalan’
‘Aakhri Sawaal’ was earlier scheduled to release on May 8, 2026. However, due to some issues related to the Central Board of Film Certification, the film could not get the certificate on time. For this reason the makers postponed its release by a week. Finally, the film was released in theaters on Friday, but its profit was not visible at the box office. According to trade reports, the film earned only about Rs 40 lakh on the first day. This figure is considered very disappointing considering the film of a big star like Sanjay Dutt. The film was not in much discussion even before its release and advance booking was also said to be weak. In such a situation, a low opening was definitely expected, but the film could not even touch the figure of Rs 1 crore on the first day.

‘Aakhri Sawal’ is an important film for Sanjay Dutt!
In the last few years, Sanjay Dutt has mostly been seen in supporting roles or villain roles. In such a situation, ‘Aakhri Sawal’ was considered an important film for him. Both the industry and the fans were keeping an eye on whether Sanjay Dutt would be able to bring the audience to the theater on his own. However, the initial figures did not live up to expectations. According to reports, the budget of the film is said to be around Rs 30 to 40 crores. In such a situation, the first day’s earnings are going to raise concerns for the makers. Now the film will need to take a big jump on Saturday and Sunday to survive at the box office. If the audience response is not good over the weekend, then the road ahead may be difficult for the film.
