India and America are exploring new opportunities to further strengthen defense and industrial cooperation. In particular, talks are going on between the two countries on advanced engines, unmanned systems (drones) and increasing maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities in India. This information was given by US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore.
Increasing cooperation in defense and technology
Speaking at an event in New Delhi, Sergio Gore said that India and the US are working on advanced engine technology, unmanned systems and new avenues to increase MRO operations in India. He said that defense and technical cooperation between Washington and New Delhi is continuously increasing. Now both the countries are also paying more attention to joint development, supply chain and industrial partnership.
Speed increased on important mineral agreement also
The US Ambassador said that the two countries are close to finalizing an agreement in another strategic area. According to him, India and America are working towards taking the Critical Minerals Agreement to the final stage.
Cooperation in energy sector also
Referring to cooperation in the energy sector, Sergio Gore said that as India’s economy is growing, the demand for electricity is also increasing rapidly. He said that American companies are ready to help India in its plan to increase its nuclear energy capacity. This will help ensure stable and reliable power supply for a long time.
Strategic Partnership in Indo-Pacific
Apart from this, Sergio Gore said that strengthening strategic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region is also an important goal of America. He said that America’s effort is to further strengthen the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue i.e. Quad. This group includes the United States, India, Japan, and Australia, which work together to enhance strategic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
