This time ICC has increased the prize money by 20 percent compared to 2024. ICC has announced a total prize money of 13.5 million dollars (about more than Rs 112 crore) for this World Cup. ICC had given India a reward of $ 2.45 million (about Rs 22.52 crore) for becoming champion in 2024. But this time the team that wins the World Cup crown will get the full amount of 3 million dollars (about Rs 27.48 crore). At the same time, the losing team in the final, i.e. the runner-up team, will be given $1.6 million (about Rs 14.65 crore). The reason for this huge increase in prize money is the good sponsorship income received from this tournament jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
The teams of England and South Africa losing in the semi-finals will receive $ 790,000 (about Rs 7.24 crore) per team. Teams that reach the Super 8 stage will be given $380,000 (about Rs 3.48 crore). Not only this, a reward has also been kept for the 12 teams eliminated in the group stage itself. These teams will get $250,000 (about Rs 2.29 crore) per team. In this way, ICC has ensured that all 20 teams participating in the World Cup benefit financially.
