A major accident was avoided in an IPL 2026 match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. In this match played on Saturday 2 May at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, a Super Kings player targeted the Mumbai batsman and hit the ball on his head. This target was hit so close that a major accident could have happened but it is a matter of relief that nothing like this happened.
This incident happened in the last 20th over of Mumbai’s innings. in this match Mumbai Indians Was batting first. Krish Bhagat was batting in the last over of the innings, while the responsibility of bowling was handled by fast bowler Anshul Kamboj. Bhagat was on strike for the last ball of the over. Kamboj bowled the ball outside the off stump, on which Bhagat could not hit the shot. Just after this this incident happened.

Actually, this was the last ball of the innings, so despite no shot being made, both the batsmen ran. The attempt was to add one more run to the score. Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson immediately threw the ball towards Kamboj. As soon as the Chennai pacer caught the ball, he tried to hit the ball on the stumps at the non-striker’s end. At this very moment Bhagat came very close to him. But by then the ball had left Kamboj’s hand and it hit the back of Bhagat’s head hard, 2-3 meters away.

For once it scared me that some accident might happen. But the matter of relief was that this did not happen and the reason for this was the helmet. Bhagat was wearing a helmet, due to which the ball did not hit his head directly. He also completed one run. But seeing all this scene, wicketkeeper Sanju Samson started laughing loudly and the video of this entire incident is now viral on social media.
Mumbai could not score big
Thanks to this one run, Mumbai’s score somehow reached 159 runs. This score could have been even higher if Mumbai’s batsmen had taken advantage of the fast start. The team’s first wicket fell in the second over itself but after this Ryan Rickleton and Naman Dhir made a quick partnership of 58 runs. Then after Rickleton was out, Suryakumar Yadav scored some runs but gradually the scoring rate started coming down. Dhir scored a strong half-century but captain Hardik Pandya’s innings of 18 runs in 23 balls caused a big loss to Mumbai.
