But an Indian software engineer says that the biggest feature of his job is not the salary in pounds, but the company’s trust in its employees and excellent work-life balance. His experience has started a new discussion on social media about what is more important for employees, more money or respect for personal life.
Software engineer shared video on Instagram account
Indian software engineer Diwakar Singh shared a video on his Instagram account. He told that he has been working as a remote contractor for a UK based company for more than five years. After getting leave from the company on his birthday, he shared this experience with people.
‘When work ends, office also ends’, this is the biggest difference
According to Diwakar, in his company, employees are neither forced nor put under any kind of pressure to work beyond the stipulated time. No calls, messages or additional work is expected after office hours are over. He says that the company believes that every employee has his own personal life and it should be respected. He also said that there are very few unnecessary meetings, there is little to no micromanagement and employees are given complete confidence in the way they work. This is the reason why they like this work culture the most.

Comparison with Indian corporate culture
In his video, Diwakar said that this is the thing he misses the most in the Indian corporate environment. According to him, in many places employees are expected to be available even after office hours, whereas a good work culture should mean respecting employees’ time and personal life. He wrote in his post that a good salary is definitely important, but the value of employees’ time is even more valuable. Watch the viral video below-

Mixed reaction received on social media
Diwakar’s video quickly became a topic of discussion among people. Many users agreed with him and said that better work-life balance is the biggest strength of any job. Some people also said that many Indian IT companies have now started providing facilities like paid leave to their employees on birthdays or wedding anniversaries and the work culture in many organizations has become better than before. Some users also wrote that the environment of every Indian company is not the same. Good work culture is now being seen in many private companies of India also. However, Diwakar’s experience once again brings to the fore the fact that in today’s times, not only good salary but also trust and respect for personal life have increasingly become the priorities of employees.
